Creation Cope Racing Pensacola driver evaluations

On January 20-21 Creation Cope Racing tested with Argentinian drivers Leonel Sotro and Mauro Giallombardo. As part of  their on-going driver development programme both drivers were evaluated for their ability and speed of learning on a K&N type NASCAR platform during the duration of the test.

The evaluation test was held at Five Flags Speedway, Pensacola Florida, on the Gulf Coast.

CCR’s Andy Woolgar:

- “Both drivers acquitted themselves very well. They come from the highest profile racing series in their home country. Their speed, willingness to listen, learn and execute was equally intense. We would be happy to have either or both of them back with us for some races in K&N at some point. Having seen these guys I believe that racing in Argentina could be underestimated by many. There’s a lot of talent down there that could break into the international racing scene and really prove to be competitive not just in NASCAR but other platforms”.

The two drivers were quick studies, and their lap times very close. On the Pensacola half mile oval they achieved times comparable to race laps at the venue.

CCR’s Crew Chief David Fuge and lead mentor Derrike Cope monitored the drivers’ capabilities throughout the test aided with the use of MoTec telemetry and in car cameras.
